Wayne is located in Northeast Nebraska, approximately 45 miles southwest of Sioux City, Iowa, and is the home of Providence Medical Center and Wayne State College. Missionary Benedictine Sisters serve the people in health and pastoral care.

 Providence Medical Center is a 30-bed acute care hospital. It was built in 1974 and is owned and operated by the Missionary Benedictine Sisters. A physicians' clinic was built in 1996 and is attached to the hospital. Five physicians live and work in Wayne. There are several outpatient specialty clinics held in the hospital. A 10,000 sq ft. out patient department has been recently completed.

The Missionary Benedictine Sisters work at Providence Medical Center in nursing and pastoralHispanic Ministry, Sr. Marisa care. Recently we have expanded our Hispanic Ministry to the Wayne and Wakefield areas.  Sr. Marissa Piramide arrived from the Philippines to the States to help in this crucial ministry.
